Sonia Macaddino was born in a small town in western Sicily. She is – in her own words – “an eternal child who loves the smell of crayons, who has turned into a conscious woman who loves living the beauty of all things through quality and ‘essence’”. When she was four she asked for her first fur coat (obviously eco-fur) and if she didn’t like a dress, she preferred to run away rather than wear it. It’s in the garage, where a huge mirror could be found, that Sonia began to“play” and to experiment during the switch from her parents’ winter season clothes to the spring and summer wardrobe.

At the first opportunity, once she graduated, she enrolled at the Academy Euromediterranea Harim fashionable of Catania, then at IED in Rome. In 2011, in addition to being the year in which she moved to Milan, she receives, during an event, the first prize of the fashion chamber, presented to her by the President Boselli.

Fashion for Sonia Macaddino is a sensitive perception, inner and social and in her ideas recreates the “size of” median that area where they meet dream, half awake, reality and cosmic perspective.

In 2011, by chance, the “Capsule Collection”, created together with the designer Gaetano Accursio, was born. The designer explains,“I had opened my store trunk and among the mess I found a fabric that made me think of an uncontrollable inspiration”. Thus “Retrògenie” saw the light. Retrogenie is neologism that combines retro and photogenie, then presented st the Sicilian event Madeinmedi.

Sonia wants to approach design starting from the subject of her aesthetic: it is not only the fabric but the interaction that this has with the wearer. The eclectic dimension of the woman imagined by Sonia Macaddino has no boundaries. You could ask her everything and discover that she loves all kinds of music and art.  In a phrase, she simply loves living.

Sonia Macaddino nasce in una piccola città della Sicilia occidentale – e come preferisce definirsi lei –  “un’eterna bambina che adora il profumo delle matite colorate che si è trasformata in una donna consapevole che adora vivere il bello di tutte le cose con qualità ed “essenza”. A 4 anni, chiese, la sua prima pelliccia (ecologica ovvio) e se un vestito non le piaceva, preferiva scappare piuttosto che indossarlo – ed è nel garage di casa, li dove si stagliava un enorme specchio, che Sonia iniziò a “divertirsi” e a sperimentare la moda con il cambio armadio stagione dei genitori.

Alla prima opportunità, una volta conclusa la maturità, s’iscrive all’accademia Euromediterranea Harim moda di Catania, poi allo Ied di Roma. Nel 2011 oltre ad essere l’anno in cui si trasferisce a Milano è l’anno in cui riceve; durante un evento, il primo premio della camera della moda, consegnato dal Presidente Boselli.

La moda per Sonia Macaddino è una percezione sensibile interiore e sociale e nelle sue idee ricrea la “dimensione del tra”, quell’area mediana dove s’incontrano sogno, dormiveglia, realtà e prospettiva cosmica.

Nel 2011 nacque per caso la capsule collection, cucita insieme al designer Gaetano Accursio; spiega la designer “avevo aperto il mio baule di archivio e fra il disordine trovai un tessuto che mi fece venire in mente un’incontrollabile ispirazione”. E’ così venne alla luce retrògenie, neologismo che unisce retrò e photogenie, poi presentata all’evento siciliano Madeinmedi.

Sonia desidera affrontare il design a partire dal soggetto della sua estetica: che non è solo il tessuto ma l’interazione che  quest’ultimo ha, con chi lo indossa. La dimensione eclettica della donna immaginata da Sonia Macaddino non ha confini. Le si potrebbe chiedere tutto e scoprirla innamorata di ogni genere di musica e arte. In una frase, ama semplicemente vivere.
